About the role

Role Summary

To support the Building Safety & Compliance Team Leader in delivering a technical service to internal and external stakeholders. Which includes improving and updating the delivery of building safety services keeping pace with changes in legislation and the sector and ensuring TCH is pro-active and innovative. And to assist in the compilation of building safety cases and other reports relating to maintaining safety and to assist in creating and championing a culture of safety.

What will you be doing?

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • These activities predominantly relate to building safety and compliance workstreams but aren’t limited to these.
  • Undertake quality inspections of building safety and compliance works to ensure jobs are carried out to the standard required across all TCH stock.
  • Interpret findings from technical surveys across a range of contracts and take appropriate action.
  • Work closely with the contractors to ensure all properties are 100% compliant each month on all fire safety and services contracts i.e., fire risk assessments, emergency lighting, fire alarms and communal smoke detection.
  • Actively participate in contractor meetings, challenging underperformance using your technical knowledge and your knowledge of the contract.
  • Take ownership on resolving health and safety concerns raised by staff, residents, contractors, or other third parties, seeing the resolution through to conclusion and ensuring ‘near misses’ or ‘lessons learned’ are fed back and embedded to improve our services.
  • Actively work towards achieving value for money on all contracts by ensuring programmes deliver works efficiently and within budget; collaborating with planned and cyclical maintenance teams at every opportunity.
  • Actively work towards delivering service improvements by challenging average performance, listening and acting on resident feedback and learning from sector peers.
  • Ensure record keeping and reporting is accurate and fully reflective of performance. Work towards improving and updating the methods for doing this.
  • Raise purchase orders for building safety contracts.
  • Respond to complaints relating to building safety.
  • Provide overall administration support for all building safety contracts.


  • Contribute to our digital strategy by supporting digital engagement with our customers where relevant and promoting every opportunity to become digitally included.
  • This role will require an individual to travel to various sites across our housing stock and a full driving licence and access to a car will be necessary.
  • Be an effective member of your team, always presenting a positive impression of your department and of Town & Country Housing.
  • To actively contribute towards achieving our performance targets.

About You

Education & Qualifications

  • Technical qualifications in any compliance and/or construction discipline (Desirable).
  • Experience of contract management (Desirable).

  • Proven experience and ability to deliver excellent customer care.
  • Previous experience within social housing in a similar role.
  • Building trade background an advantage.
  • Experience of report writing and presenting.
  • Experience of a health and safety compliance environment.
