Role Summary

To provide operational leadership in the design, delivery and evaluation of the responsive service, contracts and legislative compliance regulations. Ensuring key operational and financial targets are achieved in line with the aims and objectives of the company. Develop a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.

To be accountable for building safety and compliance ensuring that TCH complies with Health & Safety and related statutory obligations.

To be responsible, for continuous improvement of the resident experience, always striving for service excellence across all workstreams

To drive performance and deliver value for money through the reactive & voids repairs service contracts.

To develop, promote and embed a safety culture, ensuring that ‘safety is everyone’s responsibility’ is understood and practiced.

To ensure C&C services to internal customers are both responsive and statutory are of a high standard.

To take the strategic lead client role for the Kent and Sussex joint venture responsive repairs vehicle, TCHR. Lead the repairs team to realise the strategic objectives of the joint venture contract ensure our residents receive the best possible service.

To lead the Direct labour force for our responsive repairs service in Surrey.

What will you be doing?

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • To undertake best value reviews on contracts to ensure legal compliance balanced against commercially managed, procured and reviewed contracts.
  • To be accountable for the reactive repairs service contract in order that value for money, outstanding service delivery and a high level of customer satisfaction may be achieved within a framework of shared values.
  • To be accountable for all compliance servicing contracts in order that TCH complies with all regulatory and statutory obligations whilst achieving value for money, outstanding service delivery and a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the development of operating plans and the maintenance strategy, ensuring continuous improvement to services making sure that there are effective processes to capture and review customer satisfaction and resolve service issues. Work collaboratively internally to achieve best practice and diminish silo practices.
  • To lead best practice in departmental procurement policy ensuring it is reviewed and monitored to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure compliance on all health and safety for the group ensuring that all our working practices and procedures are up to date with latest legislation and regulations. Report directly to EMT and the Board on these matters.
  • Ensure that the company develops its service contracts and standards in line with current legal and statutory obligations by benchmarking and researching industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain effective management processes and procedures to ensure information systems are accurate and timely data is available for routine management, business planning and performance management. Ensuring budgets are established and managed robustly.
  • Drive our servicing contractors to support TCH's sustainability agenda by promoting low carbon delivery methods and seeking innovative solutions to achieve TCH sustainability goals.
  • Support TCHR's growth ambitions to deliver more of the TCH repairs obligations along with opportunities to deliver planned programmes.

  • To network with peers, strong awareness of sector implications to ensure we stay abreast of developments, best practice and respond quickly to change.
  • To undertake other such duties as may be reasonably expected from time to time.
  • Be an effective member of your team, presenting a positive impression of your section and the Group.
  • Member of leadership group. Working very closely with head of Asset Investment to seek proactive solutions to reduce our responsive repairs demand.
  • Develop partnership working with our Group parent, Peabody, actively participating in working groups, forums and other vehicles to deliver shared objectives, innovation and best practice. With the Managing Director represent TCH within Peabody's Building Safety Board.

About You

Education & Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (Desirable).
  • Member of RICS or CIOB (Desirable).
  • Diploma/BTEC in relevant field i.e Construction/Compliance.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Comprehensive, up to date knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements (technical and consumer).

Key Skills & Competencies

  • A good level of IT skills.
  • Technical competence in a construction/compliance discipline.
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering a regulated service.
  • Experience of building, developing and embedding a safety culture.
  • A proven track record of successfully leading, managing and motivating teams.
  • Experience of drafting and presenting reports to Boards and executive teams.


  • Proven experience of managing and directing contractual relationships with service providers.
  • A pro active approach to managing performance, risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully managing budgets.
