We strongly believe in creating a culture that encourages our employees to share their skills, expertise and resources to enrich the communities in which they live and work.

Our employees are constantly finding new ways to give back. Inspired by her team’s volunteering efforts, Barbara Lee, Assistant Project Manager decided to dedicate her time to the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank (EEFB). Here’s her story.

“Unfortunately I missed my team’s volunteering day due to illness, but this only made me more determined to contribute. I contacted the EEFB and arranged to volunteer for four mornings.

“I chose the EEFB because I have volunteered there before. When I managed our properties between tenancies I would often take non-perishable foods and good-quality household items that people had left behind to the food bank.

“I mentioned my plans to one of our contractors, Burton Build, and asked if they would like to join me. I was delighted when they agreed – a great example of partnership working! Luke, the owner of Burton Build, volunteered on three occasions, and his wife also joined us and plans to volunteer regularly.  He also inspired others from his company to get involved. Luke was so moved by the experience that he is planning to open his own food bank.

“Burton Build are incredibly generous; they recently donated £510 to our Macmillan Coffee morning.

“The food bank truly holds a special place in my heart. I met wonderful people, and we worked hard sorting food into categories and by date order. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to give back to my community.  A big thank you to Luke and Burton Build for their amazing support!”

Barbara’s story is just one example of how Town & Country Housing employees are making a real difference in their communities.
