If you’re looking for information on local support services, activities, groups or events in your area, then make sure to check out our new Community Noticeboard app!

We’ve developed the idea after hearing from residents that they’d like to be able to find out more about what’s going on in their local community.

We’ve been working with residents to shape the Community Noticeboard. Through surveys and focus groups we’ve been able to gain valuable insight into the type of info that people would like to know about and how they’d like to access it.

Residents have also been helping us to build the site, gaining valuable work experience and computer coding skills along the way!

Thanks to their hard work, and the support of digital specialists FutureCodersSE, the Community Noticeboard is now live and available at www.communitynoticeboard.info.

It contains details of more than 250 events and opportunities across the south-east covering the following categories:

  • Bereavement Support
  • Community safety
  • Employment Support
  • Fitness
  • Food Banks
  • Health
  • Loneliness
  • Mental Health
  • Money Advice
  • Older person’s support
  • Young people and families

Sophie Locke, TCH’s Community Investment and Social Value Manager, has been leading the project, and thanked residents for their insights and support.

“This has been a truly collaborative approach with residents. As well as coming up with the initial idea, it’s been great to have residents co-create and build the Community Noticeboard with us and FutureCodersSE.

We know that there are countless local community projects that offer invaluable support, but it can often be hard to find out what’s happening where. We hope that the Community Noticeboard will be the go-to place for any TCH residents looking for local groups.

We’ve already got more than 200 opportunities listed, and we’ll be adding more listings to the app, so do keep checking back to see what’s new in your area!”
Karen Scott, CEO of futureCodersSE, said she was proud of the pivotal role her team played in the successful launch of the Community Noticeboard app.

“Sophie’s vision went beyond delivering an app that benefited residents; it also focused on providing opportunities for residents to learn how to code and gain insight into the app development process,” she explained.

“This goal aligned perfectly with futureCodersSE’s mission to offer meaningful work experience to young people. Six residents participated in the initial training sessions for the app’s first prototype, which was later reviewed and approved by Town & Country Housing’s  Residents’ Voice panel.”
