Keeping you, your family and your home safe is always our top priority at Town & Country Housing (TCH). That’s why, after a competitive tender, we’ve appointed RGE Services Ltd to look after the day-to-day servicing and maintenance of our fire-safety equipment – work that starts this month. Their contract covers every TCH home across Kent, Surrey and Sussex and sits alongside the wider fire-safety programme set out in our Building Safety policy.

Who are RGE Services?

  • Over 30 years’ experience providing fire- and electrical-compliance services for housing associations, local authorities and other public-sector clients across London and the South-East.
  • A values-driven company that prides itself on a partnership approach and flexible, resident-focused delivery.
  • More than 95 directly employed, fully qualified engineers and a track record of working in 350,000+ homes.

What will RGE be doing in your building?

RGE engineers will carry out regular inspection, testing and repairs for:

  • Fire-detection systems (panel and detector checks)
  • Smoke-control and ventilation equipment
  • Dry- and wet-risers, hose-reels and sprinkler systems
  • Emergency-lighting units
  • Access-control, automatic gates and door-entry systems

What happens next?

  1. Planned visits – You’ll see RGE engineers on site for routine servicing or if a repair is reported. They always carry photo ID and will introduce themselves before entering communal areas or your home.
  2. Access matters – If we need to get into your flat, we’ll contact you in advance to arrange a convenient time. Please help us by keeping appointments and ensuring communal areas stay clear.
  3. Reporting an issue – Spot a fault with an alarm, light or door? Let us know straight away – find out how to contact us here.
  4. Fire-risk assessments – You can request a copy of the latest assessment for your block at any time.

A quick reminder of how you can help

  • Keep escape routes clear – No bikes, push-chairs or doormats in corridors.
  • Test your smoke alarm monthly – Tell us if it chirps or the light goes out.
  • Never wedge fire doors open – They’re designed to slow smoke and flames.
  • Let us know if you need extra support – For example, a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP).

If you have any worries about fire safety – big or small – please get in touch with us. Working together with RGE, we’ll keep every TCH home safe, sound and compliant.

Stay safe, stay reassured – and thank you for helping us look after your building.
