Our Estate Services contractors look after the communal spaces for our homes, inside and out. They carry out a range of tasks including grass cutting, cleaning internal shared spaces and looking after bin stores. 

We recently re-procured these contracts and were delighted to receive lots of feedback about the service, with residents actively engaged throughout the contract selection process.

The new contracts came into force on 1 May. We’ve since been hearing from some residents, via our complaints process, that they’re not sure how regularly some cleaning and gardening services should be carried out, or what contractors are responsible for.  

There was also some concern that litter was not being cleared before grass was cut, meaning that rubbish was spread across communal areas.  

We’re doing…  

We hold regular contract management meetings with all our contractors, using your feedback to drive service improvements. As one example we’ve been speaking to our contractors to make sure they carry out a litter pick before mowing communal grass areas.  

We will be publishing details of the work that contractors are expected to carry out, and how often. We’re also looking into other ideas such as creating a resident reporting tool to flag missed or incomplete visits.
