Gas Safety Week: 8th–14th September 2025

We’re proud to support Gas Safety Week 2025, which runs from 8th to 14th September. The campaign, led by the Gas Safe Register, is all about raising awareness of gas safety and reminding us how important it is to look after our homes, friends, and family.

Gas appliances that are poorly fitted or not regularly serviced can put lives at risk. They may cause leaks, fires, explosions, or carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning – and because CO has no smell, taste, or colour, it can be deadly without warning.

As your landlord, we take gas safety very seriously. Each year, we arrange for all our gas appliances, pipework and flues in your home to be checked by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Once this has been done, you’ll receive a copy of the Gas Safety Record within 28 days – this is your proof that your home meets the required safety standards. We also keep records of every check so that we can make sure your home stays safe year after year.

We also make sure:

  • Any gas appliances left by previous tenants are removed or certifiedproven safe before you move in.
  • A working carbon monoxide alarm is installed in every room with a gas appliance (other than cookers). These alarms are tested at the start of each tenancy, but if yours ever stops working, please let us know straight away.
  • All checks are carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, who carry ID cards. If you’d like extra peace of mind, you can always ask to see their card when they visit your home.

Gas safety is a shared responsibility. While we carry out the legal checks, you can help by reporting any issues as soon as you spot them – for example, if you smell gas, your appliance isn’t working properly, or your carbon monoxide alarm beeps. Acting quickly helps us keep you and your neighbours safe.

Gas Safety Week is a good reminder that these checks aren’t just a formality – they save lives. By working together, we can make sure every home stays safe and comfortable.
