Scam alert: Protect yourself from fraudulent messages and calls
Related Posts
Our Customer Service team has heard from residents about two scams that are currently doing the rounds. Neither of these are genuine messages from Town & Country Housing, so please do not reply to them.
We’ve also set out some tips on steps you can take to stay safe should you receive any other suspicious messages.
Scam example 1: Fake payment message
A resident received a fraudulent text message claiming to be from “TCLS LLP” regarding a failed card payment and arrears. It referenced “Town & Country” and urged the recipient to call a number to resolve the issue. This message is not from us and is designed to cause alarm.
Do not reply as you could be putting your bank account security at risk.

Scam example 2: Housing repairs call

A resident reported a scam phone call from 0330 678 2547, which has been flagged online as a Housing Repairs Scam. This number has a negative community rating and has been reported for fraudulent activity across the UK.
You can check suspicious numbers like this on https://who-called.co.uk/, a free and widely used website where users share reports about scam and spam calls. While it’s not an official government site, it can be a helpful tool for identifying suspicious numbers and spotting patterns.
What to do if you receive a suspicious call or text
Whether it’s a message like the one from “TCLS LLP” or a call from a number like 0330 678 2547:
- Block the number on your phone.
- Report it as spam to your mobile provider or via your phone’s settings.
- Let us know so we can track patterns and warn other residents.
