Winter changes to our estate and grounds maintenance schedule

As we move into the colder months you may notice some changes in our estates and grounds maintenance schedule. During winter, grass cutting stops because growth slows significantly. This helps protect the lawns and ensures they’re healthy for spring.

We recently met the contractors who deliver our grounds maintenance services, and they shared more details about the seasonal changes that take place over winter.

What to look out for this season:

  • Cold-weather cleaning changes: When the temperature drops below 3°C, our cleaning teams are unable to wet-mop hardstanding floors. This is simply to avoid creating any icy slip hazards for residents, visitors or contractors.
  • No grass cuts until the growing season resumes in spring. Instead of grass cutting, the team will focus on preparing beds, tending to hedges and regular litter picking.
  • Leaf clearance will continue where needed to keep paths safe and help prevent drains from blocking.
  • Shrub and hedge maintenance may be carried out during dry spells to keep communal areas tidy. In some places, you may see more noticeable cutbacks of shrubs and hedges.

If you spot any hazards, such as fallen branches or blocked pathways, please let us know as soon as possible. Your feedback helps us keep outdoor spaces safe and accessible for everyone. You can find our contact information here.

As always, we’ll continue to share updates as we move through the season. And if you’re ever unsure about something you see in your communal areas, our team is here to help — just get in touch.
