While we do our best to keep our communications jargon free, we do occasionally use specific technical words or phrases.
These are often terms that are used widely across housing or in the general media – for example Awaabs Law, which gives clear timeframes for social landlords to investigate and fix reports of damp, mould, and other serious housing issues.

While we always aim to explain complex terms when we use them, residents have told us they would like a guide to commonly used terms.
We’re doing…
We’re in the final stages of launching a new Jargon Buster page on our website. This will allow residents to search an alphabetical list of these common terms.
We’ve shared the Jargon Buster content with our Communications Services Improvement Group, and are making final changes based on their feedback.
This includes a request to further simplify and shorten the explanations, and guidance on how the guide should be published.
We’re finalising the approach and will launch the new Jargon Buster in March’s resident newsletter.
