NEET Scholarship Programme: English and Maths for 16–17-year-olds
Related Posts

The number of young people who are not in education, training or employment (NEET) is growing. Studies have shown that time spent NEET can have a detrimental effect on physical and mental health, and increase the likelihood of unemployment, low wages, or low-quality work later on in life. Across the UK, there has been a gap in statutory funding, which has led to many young people not having a placement in education or training.
Through partnership working with The Education People in Kent, we confirmed that some of these young people are part of a TCH household. Last year, in Kent alone over 150 young people from families living in TCH homes were NEET. And in Tunbridge Wells a surprising 62% o f all the NEET young people in the area lived in a TCH household.
To support young residents and families, we’ve partnered with The Education People and Runway Training to offer online training for 16- and 17-year-olds who are not in education, training or employment (‘NEET’).
What’s on offer
- Residents aged 16 and 17 in Kent, Surrey and Sussex can access funded online training
- Residents can get accredited qualifications in English and Maths to prepare them for the next steps in their career pathway
- Gain confidence and get support to consider the next step, whether that’s college, an apprenticeship or work.
