Our Showfields redevelopment work reached a massive milestone at the end of the year, with the first three families moving into new social housing homes in Tunbridge Wells.  

Lana, 30, moved in with her partner and their two sons, aged three-years and nine-months.  

Previously renting in the private sector, she had been waiting to move into social housing for 18 months.  

“We were really relieved, happy and excited when we found out we’d be moving in,” she said. 

“We don’t have to think about whether someone will sell the house or ask us to move out. It gives us security and we feel like we’re being taken care of – Town & Country Housing is always asking us how we’re settling in, it’s been amazing.” 

And for Zeeshan (pictured above) and his family, their move means they can stay in the community they’ve made home over the last eight years.  

“I’ve seen the redevelopment take shape – it’s been good for Showfields with better street lighting, roads, parking and EV charging at the new homes,” he said.  

“When we were offered this house we were very happy because we really like the area.  

“The house is very nice with big rooms, and it’s very convenient for local shops and getting in to Tunbridge Wells. We were renting privately before moving here. Now we can do simple things like redecorate or put up shelves and pictures, which helps to make it feel like home.”  

A further 68 social housing 12 shared ownership homes are being made available to residents, with the final properties in Phase 1 of the project to be completed by January 2027.
