Covering Kent, Medway and parts of East Sussex, our Home Improvement Agency provides support and advice to older or vulnerable people to help them live independently for longer in their homes.
We have been commissioned to provide Home Improvement Agency services by county, unitary and local authorities since 1990.
With more than 33 years’ experience, our specialist team offers a range of solutions to anyone in the region, whether they are Town & Country Housing residents or not.
Supporting independent living
Adaptations such as a level access shower, wet room, grabrails and replacing steps with a safe, low-gradient slope can make a huge difference to peoples’ lives.
However, we know how difficult it can be for people to plan and manage such projects in their home.
This is where we can make a real difference.
Once we’ve met to understand your needs, we can help you apply for a means-tested Disabled Facilities Grant to cover the cost of the work, but you can also choose to self-fund any adaptations.
We’ll then manage the whole process from design to completion of works, arranging and overseeing the works as they proceed.
From start to finish, the team will support you through the whole process. By working with us you can be sure that work will be carried out by professional and specialist local contractors.
Additional services
We know how difficult it can be to find someone to carry out small jobs in the home, like putting up a shelf or replacing a lock. Our Handyperson Team is here to tackle just those types of tasks.
Our Health and Housing Coordinators can provide support and advice around housing related issues that could be delaying a loved one’s safe discharge from hospital to home.
And our Home Straight team supports those experiencing issues due to excessive clutter. By working compassionately with you the team is able to understand the root cause of the situation and develop an approach that will best support your needs.
